DAVID WEISBROT has been reappointed as president of the Australian Law Reform Commission (ALRC) for a further four years.

President since 1999, Weisbrot has led the ALRC through inquiries including a report on the protection of classified and security sensitive information. As well, the ALRC conducted a review of the federal civil justice system and two reports on the use and protection of human genetic information.

Announcing the reappointment, federal Attorney-General Philip Ruddock said “the quality of the commission’s work in [Weisbrot’s] time as president has been recognised internationally”.
