In a speech at the Universities Australia Higher Education Conference today, education minister Julia Gillard will announce the development of the new site to be launched by January 2012.

The site will allow students and parents to compare the quality and monitor the performance of universities across Australia, helping students decipher the best place to get their degree.

The My School website was launched in January this year and provides information on almost 10,000 Australian schools that can be searched by name, location and sector.
