A La Trobe University law student has landed an internship with the United Nations in Italy.

Cat Moroney will complete a three month internship with the Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute (UNICRI) beginning in mid-October in Turin, Italy.

Moroney came across the opportunity, with the assistance of La Trobe's law school, after researching and studying UN and UNICRI published papers. She is the fourth La Trobe law student to be offered an internship with the UN in recent years.

The UNCRI aims to support countries worldwide in tackling the threats of crime to social peace, development and political stability.

The institute offers expertise and action-oriented research to build improved policies and intervention programmes to tackle corruption, security, organised crime (in particular, trafficking of persons as well as illicit drugs and arms), domestic and workplace violence, environmental - and cyber - crime, protection of victims and cultural heritage, and juvenile justice.
