CHAMPIONS OF access to justice are to be recognised through the Law and Justice Foundation’s annual Justice Awards.

Nominations are now open for the awards, which recognise individuals and organisations that work to improve access to justice for the socially and economically disadvantaged. Director of the Foundation Geoff Mulherin says the awards recognise the work which “makes a real difference to the lives” of those who have difficulty “accessing and negotiating the justice system”, including people with intellectual or physical disabilities, low-income earners, Aboriginal people and people with mental illness.

Mulherin encouraged everyone who knew of a “worthy candidate” to nominate them for an award. Categories include the justice medal, the Aboriginal justice award, the law and justice volunteer award and the pro bono partnerships award.

Nomination forms are available at www.lawfoundation. net.au/justice_awards.
