A HANDFUL of Australia’s most senior judges this week congratulated the University of Queensland (UQ) winners of an international law moot court competition.

The UQ Law School Jessup Moot Team took the Philip C Jessup International Law Moot Competition in Washington DC in April this year — the first time a Queensland team had won the championship in the competition’s 46 year history.

This year’s Fuji Xerox Australian Law Awards winner of the Hughes-Castell Lifetime Achievement Award, the High Court’s Justice Michael Kirby, led the proceedings to congratulate the students and encourage them in their future legal careers.
