FORMING A SCRUM to tackle the issues facing sport in Australia and New Zealand, the CEOs of Australia’s leading sporting organisations will join top legal eagles at the Australian and New Zealand Sport Law Association (ANZSLA) conference in Melbourne next month.

The sports and leadership experts will question what role the legal system can play in resolving a range of ethical issues in sport in both New Zealand and Australia.

It will address topics including corporate governance, intellectual property, new media, drugs and doping, discrimination, television rights and the future of sport in both countries.

Former Sparke Helmore managing partner, now Australian Rugby Union CEO, Gary Flowers will attend the conference. Colin Love, chairman of Australian Rugby League, Andrew Demetriou, CEO of Australian Football League and Lindsay Cane, CEO Netball Australia will also attend.

The conference is to be held in conjunction with Melbourne’s Spring Racing Carnival on 7-8 October and will conclude with an invitation to the ANZSLA marquee for the Caulfield Guineas on Saturday 9 October.
