EY on the MDP ball

Ernst & Young will continue to operate a fully integrated law arm in Australia, despite suggestions that this month’s move by multi-disciplinary counterpart KPMG to dump legal services would be followed by other Big Four accountants.

A spokesperson last week told Lawyers Weekly there were no plans to sever the firm’s legal arm, EY Law, in the foreseeable future.

He added that a “business as usual” approach was being adhered to. Rival MDP law firm PwC Legal has also confirmed it will continue to trade in close harmony with account, audit and tax department notwithstanding the generic conflict concerns that drove KPMG Legal to its demise.
