LAWYERS ARE Britain’s second-fattest male professionals, topped only by truckies, according to a recent survey.

In the survey, which was undertaken on behalf of weight-loss supplement manufacturer LIPOband, the waistbands of 5000 men from a range of professions were measured and compared to Britain’s national average of 38 inches.

As reported by Telegraph.co.uk, 42 per cent of truck drivers were found to have a waistline larger than average, compared with 33 per cent of lawyers. Rounding out the top five fattest professions were IT workers (26 per cent), doctors (24 per cent) and plumbers (23 per cent).

According to the survey, 84 per cent of men believe that a person’s weight is affected by the profession they choose, and more than 50 per cent said that their eating habits at work have resulted in weight gain.

A spokesperson from LIPOband said that lawyers’ extra baggage is a result of “temptations with lavish business lunches and nights out” in combination with driving “smart cars” and having less time to exercise due to long working hours, Telegraph.co.uk reported.
