The former managing partner of Blake Dawson has made a surprise switch to corporate life, having recently been appointed as the managing director and chief executive officer of financial services company Trust.

Atkin unexpectedly resigned from Blake Dawson in July, after more than 20 years as a partner in commercial law firms, including in the role of executive partner at Mallesons Stephen Jaques, and later as managing partner of Blake Dawson. He will take up his new position at Trust in January 2009.

Atkin takes over from Jonathan Sweeney, who resigned in July this year.

Trust is an ASX-listed company with a market capitalisation of about $250 million. It has offices in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Townsville, Hong Kong and Singapore and employs more than 230 staff.
