Lander & Rogers has poached senior litigators Craig Higginbotham and Genevieve Staff from Thomson Playford Cutler, along with their three support staff. The newest members of the Landers partnership will play a key role in the Melbourne-based firm's plan to establish a strong commercial litigation practice in Sydney.

The new Sydney practice will focus exclusively on litigation matters arising from insolvency, construction and environmental litigation for national and NSW-specific clients.

Well-known family law practitioner, Peter Royston, has also joined the firm's Melbourne based family law practice from Wilsons Lawyers.

Lander's chief executive partner, David Fitch, said the strong reputation of the team and their respective experience would raise the firm's profile in New South Wales.

"It's a natural fit to our business to have lawyers like Craig, Genevieve and Peteron board. Each of them has extensive experience and solid reputations in their respective areas, and we are delighted to have them join us."

"Work in Craig and Genevieve's practices is obviously on the rise, and their presence in Sydney particularly will help us extend our litigation services into that market."

"Family law is also an area that has not been greatly impacted by the economic downturn and is a key practice area for our firm," said Fitch.
