The much anticipated unveiling of the new Sydney University Law School building will take place in the presence of a high-profile legal audience at the university's main campus this Thursday evening.

After 120 years of being in the Sydney CBD court district, the law school for the first time will be located on the university's main campus in Camperdown.

Attendees at the launch of the new building - designed by Sydney University alumni and medalist Richard Francis-Jones - will include High Court Chief Justice Robert French, former Chief Justice Murray Gleeson, former High Court justice Michael Kirby, Federal Opposition leader Malcolm Turnbull and NSW Governor Marie Bashir.

The building will be officially unveiled by Governor-General Quentin Bryce AC and Commonwealth Attorney-General Robert McClelland, and NSW Supreme Court Chief Justice James Spigelman will give the official address.

The launch begins at 5pm after a day of public events which will include debates on climate change and medical ethics, a screening of the movie Legally Blonde and a performance by band Cloud Control.
