The new Canberra office of DLA Phillips Fox has this week been named as a finalist in the 2009 Australian Institute of Project Management (AIPM) Achievement Awards.

The project, which is now approaching completion, was nominated in the "Sustainable Projects" category.

Located in Kingston, ACT, the entire building has been designed to achieve a 4.5 Australian Building Green House Rating (ABGR) and a 4 Green Star rating, with DLA Phillips Fox occupying levels two and three.

The firm's tenancy, designed by architecture and interior design firm peckvonhartel, incorporates a number of environmentally sustainable initiatives, including the use of various recyclable and environmentally responsible materials and energy saving task lighting. Glazing, which has been used extensively, has been planned to capture natural light as well as the surrounding views of Red Hill and Parliament House, and angled partitions and joinery have been incorporated to complement the base building architecture.

The winners of the AIPM achievement awards will be announced on 26 August, coinciding with the unveiling of the new office, which will be officially opened by Attorney-General Robert McClelland.
