Allens Arthur Robinson has launched a Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) in an effort to build relationships with and create opportunities for Indigenous Australians.

RAPs are an initiative of Reconciliation Australia, an organisation dedicated to closing the 17-year life expectancy gap between Indigenous and non-Indigenous children in Australia.

Allens is one of 150 organisations - and the third law firm - to launch a RAP, following in the footsteps of Arnold Bloch Leibler and Gilbert + Tobin.

The RAP outlines a series of specific actions the firm will undertake, with targets to be met by 2010. It was officially unveiled at a function recently held in Sydney, attended by Aboriginal elders, NSW Governor Marie Bashir and representatives of the legal profession, law schools and pro-bono organisations.
