The legal community has this week been affected by the recent spate of drowning deaths to the NSW coastline, following the death on Monday of prominent Sydney barrister Christopher Egan at Blueys Beach on the mid-north coast.

Egan, a barrister at Sir James Martin Chambers, specialised in alternative dispute resolution with a focus on industrial law, OH&S, professional negligence and dust diseases.

He was admitted to the bar in 1982 and lived in Newtown in Sydney

The Australian reports that Egan's death comes following a number of drownings in the surf over the January holiday period - including the death of Steve Pauner on the NSW south coast over the weekend - prompting a campaign for improved safety warnings regarding surf conditions.
