Corrs Chambers Westgarth has won an Infrastructure Partnership Australia (IPA) Financial Excellence Award for their role in the $3.5 billion Victorian Desalination Project.

The Public Private Partnership (PPP) project - on which Corrs acted for the State of Victoria - has already attracted numerous awards including the Global Deal of the Year 2009 and PPP Deal of the Year 2009 at the Infrastructure Journal Annual Awards.

The project is the largest PPP project undertaken globally in the last year and was completed in the midst of the global financial crisis.

IPA judged the projects on various aspects including financial engineering, structuring and innovation, and the scale, complexity, size and difficulty of the financial structure.

The award tops off a big 18 months for Corrs in the infrastructure realm, with the firm advising on Brisbane's $4.8 billion Airport Link, the Gold Coast Rapid Transit Project, the Adelaide desalination plant, the South Australian Schools PPP, and acting for the State of Victoria in the Victorian Schools PPP.
