Johnson Executive Search has appointed former Blake Dawson chief executive officer, John Colvin, as its executive chairman.

Colvin has over 25 years of consulting experience in addition to nearly 20 years in the professional services industry, seven of which were spent as CEO of Blake Dawson (then Blake Dawson Waldron). For the past four years, Colvin has been lead partner at executive search firm, Heidrick and Struggles, specialising in board, CEO and professional services work.

In his new role as executive chairman, Colvin will lead the firm's CEO and board practice and professional services practice, covering executive search and various aspects of leadership consulting. He will provide coaching and mentoring to the Johnson Executive Search team.

"John's appointment represents a significant development for our firm as it will accelerate our firm's founding vision to be the leading executive search firm in Australia," said Jason Johnson, managing partner of Johnson Executive Search.

Colvin's appointment to Johnson Executive Search follows the recent appointment of Kate Harper from Russell Reynolds and Noel O'Curraoin from Ellington Savage.
