A Federal Government committee that will look at the feasibility of developing and selling carbon credits will be led by Duncan McGregor, the co-head of Minter Ellison's climate change practice.
McGregor will chair a six person committee, which Combet said will assess specific methods for selling carbon credits.
The committee is expected to provide its findings early next year, in order to meet the government's timetable to introduce legislation into Parliament on carbon farming initiatives by the middle of 2011.
Other members of the committee include ecologist Dr Mark Dangerfield, scientist Professor Annette Cowie and Dr Brian Keating, the director of the CSIRO Sustainable Agriculture Flagship.
