GIVEN THE chance, half of Lawyers Weeklys readers would swap firms or organisations for better pay. This is the most attractive dangling carrot for those hoping to snap up talent from competitors, a new survey reveals.

In an online poll, Lawyers Weekly asked readers to identify which of a number of options would get them signing a new contract in a new organisation. By far topping the list, pay was voted by 50 per cent of respondents as the most attractive option.

Coming in second, 16 per cent of respondents said they would move for flexible hours, while equity partnership came in close behind at 14 per cent. Also at 14 per cent, a better boss would be enough to make many readers swap jobs.

More than 100 people voted on the online poll, which had been running for just under a week when the results were tallied. The least attractive option, according to readers, is salaried partnership at just 6 per cent. The results suggest the title of partner alone will never match equity when it comes to job offers.
