Advent Lawyers has opened its first international office in Singapore.

According to Advent founder and chief executive John Knox, Singapore was a natural and good cultural fit for the firm's Asian base.

"It's innovative, a major regional business centre and home to some of the finest lawyers in Asia," Knox said.

"It also has a first class legal system and gives us ready access to some of the world's fastest growing economies such as Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam and Indonesia."

Advent's new Singapore office will add to the firm's first office in Sydney, opened in 2008, and a Melbourne office that started in 2009.

Other Australian firms to have offices in Singapore include Allens Arthur Robinson, Freehills and Blake Dawson.
