THE AGGRESSIVE tactics undertaken by anti-whaling protest group Sea Shepherd will ease off next year if Australia or New Zealand takes legal action against the Japanese, the group has said.
"If the Government believes that our actions are overly aggressive, the Government can counter our aggressiveness with a viable legal option," he said.
"Take them to court, and if that fails, if the Japanese refuse to appear, if they refuse to abide by any legal decision, Sea Shepherd could then return with a much more aggressive approach."
But Prime Minister Kevin Rudd said last week that the Government was engaged in a process of diplomacy with "our friends in Tokyo".
"... Diplomacy is a varied and wondrous beast. And we will see what it produces between now and mid-year," he said.
