In addition to McBride, similar parcels were intercepted that were addressed to Celtic manager Neil Lennon and Scottish Parliamentarian Trish Godman, a prominent Celtic fan.

McBride is one of Scotland's most high-profile lawyers and has acted for Lennon and the Celtic Football Club previously.

Police are continuing their investigations into who sent the bombs, with anti-terrorism officers ruling out loyalist terrorist involvement.

The bombs were sent in the lead-up to the "old firm" derby between Glasgow Celtic and Glasgow Rangers this weekend. Celtic largely draws its support base from Catholic fans, while Rangers has a strong following amongst Protestants.

Previous games between the two sides this season have resulted in fiery altercations on the pitch amongst players and officials, and scores of arrests amongst the clubs supporters for public order offences.
