AWB LTD and its US arm are being sued by victims of Saddam Hussein’s regime.

An action was filed against AWB and AWB (USA) in the US District Court for the southen district of New York, the company said last week.

France-based BNP Paribas is also being sued.

The lawyers for Iraqi citizens Saadya Mastafa and Kafia Ismail, allege that the companies contributed to the injuries and damages suffered by the plaintiffs by providing financial assistance to Saddam Hussein’s regime.

The damages alleged to have been suffered were unspecified but related to crimes in Iraq between 1996 and 2003.
