The Queensland Law Society will today (Tuesday 16 August) host an employment law conference.

The annual conference propose new checklists for managing unfair dismissal or adverse action files and a discussion of the latest developments in individual flexibility agreements, paid parental leave, restraint of trade and responses to injured, sick or absent employees.

The conference aims to assist lawyers in the private and public sectors involved in hiring, firing, managing and terminating.

Director of Workplace Resolve Pty Ltd, John Lunny, will review the most common claims brought under the Fair Work Act 2009.

The principal of Hall Payne Lawyers, Charles Massy will discuss the application of significant and complex Fair Work penalties; Criminalisation of Workplace Health and Safety breaches' and employers increased obligations under the Sex Discrimination Act 1984 (Cth).

McCullough Robertson partner Tim Longwill will discuss practical and current ways of defending claims under adverse action provisions in the Fair Work Act, while the conference chair, Vaishi Rajanayagam from ClarkeKann Lawyers will speak about enforcing return to work claims and Work Cover claims.
