Allens Arthur Robinson has won an award for its pro bono work in partnership with Ganbina, an Indigenous body for economic, employment and training issues in Victoria's Goulburn Valley region.
The awards, which recognise the benefits of successful partnerships between Indigenous and philanthropic organisations in Victoria, include a $3000 professional development bursary to be used by the Indigenous organisation within the partnership.
According to Allens' head of pro bono Nicky Friedman, the firm first came into contact with Ganbina in 2006 when Ganbina approached the firm for funding.
"Five years on, the Allens-Ganbina partnership has blossomed," said Friedman. "We still provide financial support to Ganbina's Jobs4U2 program as well as pro bono legal advice. The relationship has allowed Ganbina to accept more Indigenous youths into its programs and has extended the organisation's reach into the community."
