Victorian lawyers are gearing up to pound the pavement for a good cause as part of this year's Legal Fun Run and Walk.

Hosted by the Law Institute of Victoria (LIV), the annual event is taking place on 7 November and will see around 1000 participants, including members of the legal community, take their marks for an eight kilometre run or a four kilometre walk.

The race follows Melbourne's Tan Track - a 3.8 km track in the Royal Botanical Gardens just south of the Yarra River - for two running or four walking laps.

Winners will be announced on the day and the money raised will go to different charities selected through Everyday Hero.

Tim Fogarty, a partner at Taylor Root (which is the sponsor), is in training and said he is looking forward to the event.

"It's always been very popular on the legal calendar and it's a great opportunity for legal teams to get to know each other better ... I am sure the day will be a great success," he said.
