Australia's experts in child sexual abuse will meet today (30 November) at NSW Parliament House Theatrette to discuss the part played by the Family Law Courts in protecting children from exploitation.

 
 

According to the National Child Protection Alliance, in a forum attended by the general public and senior politicians commencing at 1pm, the current epidemic of child sexual abuse will be discussed, along with the "failure of the Family Law Courts" to protect children from the exploitation of a $600 million Australian child pornography industry and the role of family law practices.

Speaking at today's forum will be former children's magistrate Barbara Holborow OAM; founding director of the National Child Protection Alliance, emeritus professor Dr Freda Briggs AO; barrister Maurice Kriss ASM; Dr John Clarke; convenor of Women Everywhere Advocating Violence Elimination, deputy president of the Australian Council of Social Services and president of the National Council for Single Mothers and their Children, Dr Elspeth McInnes AO; chair of Adults Surviving Child Abuse, Dr Cathy Kezelman; member of the Sydney Children's Hospital child protection counselling service, Dr Paul Morgan; and deputy chair of the NSW Premier's Council for Preventing Violence against Women, Dr Lesley Laing.
