MALLESONS STEPHEN Jaques has been showered with accolades, receiving two prestigious awards for legal expertise along with a client service award.

The firm was named Regional Law Firm of the Year at the International Financial Law Review’s 2007 Asian Awards for the fourth year running. It was also ranked among the top 50 law firms globally by PLC Which Lawyer? Yearbook 2007. The firm also won Best Large Law Firm in the 2007 BRW-St George Client Choice Awards.

Mallesons’ chief executive partner Robert Milliner said the consistency with which the firm won awards was due talented employees.

“The awards recognise a few things. Firstly, the hard work and talent of people in the firm for getting deals done. Things like the client choice award reinforce to us internally and externally the importance of our client services initiatives. And they reflect some of the exciting things that a number of our clients are doing and it’s great from a firm point of view to be involved in that,” he said.

However, Milliner said the firm couldn’t rest on its laurels just because it had received favourable recognition.

“We are of the view that recognition in awards is something you shouldn’t get over-awed about. They are always just one indication of doing the right thing. We use the awards as one way of benchmarking how we sit by our competitors but it’s just one benchmark. At the end of the day, whilst you can be proud, it’s very much a work in progress,” he said.
