Corrs Chambers Westgarth has announced 21 recipients of a scholarship program that rewards employees for their contribution to the firm.

CORRS Chambers Westgarth has announced 21 recipients of a scholarship program that rewards employees for their contribution to the firm.

The 2009 Scholarship for Individual Excellence winners will be given the opportunity to further their education, build knowledge and skills, and connect with business professionals who inspire and motivate, the firm said today.

One hundred scholarships have been awarded in the past four years to institutions such as Harvard Business School, London Business School and UCLA.

This year, the program is focused on the Asia-Pacific region. For the first time the firm is offering its scholarship recipients the opportunity to study in Asia as well as visit a local Corrs affiliated firm, providing a close perspective of working in Asia, its cultures, people and business.

Other recipients will travel to the US.

Corrs Chambers Westgarth lawyer Nicole Graham is attending the prestigious Harvard Law School’s Advanced Negotiation: Deal Design and Implementation course. Nicole believes the course will further develop her skills in her chosen area of practice, mergers and acquisitions.

"It is exciting to be able to attend Harvard Law School. The course is very relevant to my area of practice - offering a unique opportunity to build on my negotiation skills and work with participants from around the world."

Jim Pearce, the firm’s National Project Delivery Manager, is also excited by the opportunity to study abroad. Jim is attending the Indian School of Business undertaking a course in leading teams for high performance.

“This is a great opportunity for me to not only further my own education, but also arm me with the skills I need to effectively lead my team and their skill development. The focus on remote leadership was a key driver for me when selecting this course. Some of my team have the same challenge so I will be sure to pass on any new skills to my team leaders and project managers.”
