Having averaged 25 per cent revenue growth every year, one law firm has been handed a professional accolade.

A Melbourne mid-tier firm managing partner has been nominated as Victoria’s highest achieving practitioner.

The Law Institute of Victoria announced Tony Macvean, managing partner of law firm Hall & Wilcox, as the winner of its 2009 president’s award - Managing Partner of Year Award.

The LIV award recognised Macvean contribution to the firm’s recent growth and success.

Over the past two financial years the firm has averaged 25 per cent growth in revenue and experienced a 15 per cent total growth for staff and the partnership.

Since July 2007, the firm has attracted three lateral hires at partner level and one each at special counsel and senior associate, and promoted five new partners, two new special counsel and 17 senior associates.

Macvean himself, who has been managing partner of the firm since 2007, attributed the firm’s success to his fellow partners and management team, as well as managing partners before him.

“Previous managing partners have continually improved the firm over many years and I continue to build on their great efforts,” he said.
