Ex-WHD MP opens new firm

The former managing partner of Walsh Halligan Douglas, Matt McCormick, has opened a new firm offering legal and consulting services.

After departing WHD in May this year, McCormick resurfaced in the Brisbane legal market with the new firm, McCormicks, around two months ago.

“I knew that starting from scratch wouldn’t be easy, but the amount of support I’ve already received – including customers independently following me to my new firm,” said McCormick, adding that his firm has rejected the traditional professional services model – including “out-dated assumptions” on pricing, service and risk.

“We’ve essentially gone back to the drawing board and created a firm which has put some rigour around what it means to be customer-focused and value-driven,” he said.

The law firm focuses on providing litigation and commercial advice to the insurance, music and entertainment, SME and sports arenas, while the consulting practice provides business growth, coaching and brand-building advice to the law firm customers and others that operate in the SME, professional services and entertainment space.
