Jones Day has announced that Sushma Jobanputra will take over as partner-in-charge of the firm's Singapore office.

Her predecessor, David Longstaff, who has led the Singapore office since 2003, will now focus on expanding the firm's presence in the south-east Asia region.

"Singapore has been and will only strengthen its position as the infrastructure centre for the ASEAN nations which have a total population equal to China," said managing partner of Jones Day, Stephen Brogan.

"Singapore also serves as a gateway to India, particularly with respect to the capital markets."

Jobanputra has been a partner with Jones Day since 2008 and focuses on banking and finance matters covering south-east Asia and India.

Prior to joining Jones Day, Jobanputra was a partner at Linklaters in London and most recently was a managing director at Barclays Capital.
