Magic Circle firm Linklaters has snapped up 21 new lawyers from Australia and New Zealand, including 16 associates from Australia and five associates from New Zealand.

As The Lawyer reports, four Linklaters partners made their way to Melbourne, Sydney and Auckland in March this year to interview approximately 50 lawyers from top-tier firms such as Allens Arthur Robinson, Blake Dawson, Freehills and Mallesons Stephen Jaques in Australia, and Russel McVeagh in New Zealand.

Most of the new recruits will join the firm's London office, with the majority from the banking, capital markets and projects practices.

According to Rollonfriday, a spokesperson for Linklaters attributed the new hires to "increasing client demand" and emphasised that the Magic Circle firm has no immediate plans to set up shop in Australia.

Lawyers Weekly sought comment from Linklaters but had not received a response at the time of writing.
