THE LAW Council of Australia (LCA) has launched an online dispute resolution system that offers a totally new way to work for the majority of Australian mediators.

LCA members can access the interactive mediation platform for a fee of $70 per party, allowing them to use it as a preparation tool for conference-based mediation as well as wholly online mediation where distance prohibits meeting face-to-face.

The LCA said the platform will enable members to offer clients more flexibility, access and participation in the mediation process in a way that is cost-effective and time-efficient. It has been under development for approximately five years and while similar platforms exist in the UK and Europe, this is the first of its kind in Australia.
