SOUTH Australia's Attorney-General, Michael Atkinson, has criticised the use of private practice lawyer firms for WorkCover cases.
Atkinson slammed the use of law firms instead of the Crown to prosecute compensation claims.
His comments came after the Opposition told parliament that a recent WorkCover case was thrown out of court on the ground that the prosecution acted improperly, the ABC reports.
The case was prosecuted by a private firm, and reports say the work cost WorkCover $700,000.
Atkinson said he shares the Oppositions concerns, and said WorkCover would be well advised "to look towards the Crown to do future prosecutions".
