Harmers announces new head

Harmers Workplace Lawyers’ former managing partner has already opened his own law firm, but the firm is moving on and has announced the appointment of a new firm head.

Harmers Workplace Lawyers’ former managing partner hasalready opened his own law firm, but the firm is moving on and has announcedthe appointment of a new firm head.

Harmers has appointed Shana Schreier-Joffee as its newmanaging partner, replacing Joydeep Hor, who departed at the end of June toopen his own firm specialising in bullying and harassment, called People &Culture Strategies (PCS).

The New Lawyer understands there has been some talk oflegal action involving the departure of Hor, who opened PCS on 1 July with astring of nine lawyers.

Meanwhile, Schreier-Joffe is a long-standing partnerat Harmers and one of Australia’s leading workplace lawyers with extensiveexperience across all areas of workplace law, Harmers said.  

She has acted as lead partner for a number ofhigh-profile discrimination cases, and this year led the case regarding Allcoemployee entitlements.

Michael Harmer, who established the firm 14 years agowith Margaret Diamond and Sandra Marks, both general counsel and the firm, continuesin his role as Chairman. Emma Pritchard, another long-standing partner,continues in her role as chief operations officer, announced in June.
