A mid-sized Melbourne law firm is hosting an Australian precursor event to the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development next month.

Russell Kennedy will today hold the United Nations Association of Australia’s (UNAA) Australia at Rio+20 gathering.

Key players from business, government and civil society will gather at the main event (Rio+20) in Brazil.

World leaders, along with thousands of participants from around the globe will descend on Brazil to build a universal consensus on the green economy as a means to achieve sustainable development.

Today’s precursor, Australia at Rio+20, to be facilitated by an expert panel of UN representatives and climate change specialists, will explore the role that Australian businesses can play in advancing sustainable development and the green economy through responsible business practices and collective action with government and civil society.

They will also discuss the Rio+20 process, key players, emergent issues and expected outcomes and impacts for the Australian business community and beyond.
