Although I’m way past the age where uni pubs, clubs and boozy nights are a memory from yesterday, I just can’t forget how good the uni pub crawl was.

So, I decided it was time to get our firm back into the game.  Surely it can’t be that hard.  Pick a few pubs, leave the office, start the marathon drinking session and then do what we did at uni . . . move from pub to pub (about 10 of them) until we all fall over.

Unfortunately, in a law firm context there are so many road blocks.  I’m sure you know what I mean . . . employee health, safety, injury etc etc.  Basically the pub crawl with no boundaries just doesn’t exist in a law firm.

But, I’m not going to let that deter me from a night of wandering the back streets of Sydney’s dodgiest lanes, loading into pubs, lining up Jäger Trains and having an awesome Friday night.

So here are my top tips, in no discernible order.

1.          Pick at least six pubs.

2.          Quickly realise that the chances of going to all six is about as likely as not waking up with a hangover.

3.          Produce a cool lanyard for each crawler - one side a map of all six pubs and the other side a random themed picture (I chose ‘dodgy photos from the previous 12 months’).

4.          Don’t do it in the City.  There’s no way you’re going to get a group of more than four people into any City pub or club on a Friday night.

5.          I can suggest East Sydney (Lord Roberts, East Village, Pocket Bar, Burdekin, Low-Fi) – and only go to three of them.

6.          Make sure your last pub plays music featuring all of those cheesy latest songs to which everyone knows the words.  The crowd favourite at Marque has been Titanium by David Guetta feat. Sia – the girls (and boys) know all the words and can dance to it non-stop.

7.          Have at least one Jäger-Train.  If you don’t know what that is, you seriously need to get on board.

8.          Have food at the first pub – and make it greasy.

9.          If you’re a solicitor or admin staff, make sure you’re always near a partner when they go to the bar.

10.       Get public transport to the first pub.  Nothing’s better to fire the crawlers up than piling a huge group on the unsuspecting public and bus driver.

11.       Wake up with a hangover.
