Alex Roth spent 10 years advising large banking and finance clients including Westpac, St.George, Credit-Suisse, ANZ, Suncorp, Centuria, Capital One, Wingate and Partnership Finance Group.

Prior to entering the legal profession, he spent four years in commercial and corporate lending within the corporate divisions of Westpac and St.George.

Middletons managing partner Nick Nichola said the new recruit's hands on experience will be valuable when undertaking legal work for the firm's banking and finance clients.

Roth says the firm's reputation in banking and finance attracted him to Middletons.

"This, combined with the firm's down-to-earth approach and passion for the practice of law, ultimately won me over."

The hire follows the appointment of Richard Winter in July, formerly an in-house counsel at Westpac.
