Speaking with Lawyers Weekly, Fuller (pictured) said he and O’Malley remain “good friends” despite media reports claiming the relationship between the men had become strained.

“In fact, we are [currently] texting each other to arrange to have beers together,” he said.

Fuller had previously told Lawyers Weekly that O’Malley’s sudden departure was in the best interests of the firm.

“We reached a mutual decision that it was in his [best interests] and the best interests of the firm to step down,” he said last week (22 May).

The highly-regarded O’Malley, who was a partner at the firm for 13 years, is on gardening leave until 31 December.

Lawyers Weekly also questioned Fuller on reports that KWM is set to merge with UK-based global firm SJ Berwin, and the firm’s alleged failed merger talks with Singaporean firm WongPartnership.

Fuller declined to comment, describing the reports as market speculation and rumour.
