Fast-growing firm Mills Oakley has nabbed a dozen staff, including five lawyers and one partner, from DLA Piper.
The new Mills Oakley team, headed by former DLA Piper partner Con Gotis-Graham, will specialise in litigation arising from dust diseases and asbestos-related compensation.
Former Herbert Smith Freehills partner Darren James has also joined Mills Oakley’s Melbourne office as a partner in the commercial disputes and insolvency team.
The Mills Oakley Canberra office recently recruited Mark Flint as a partner. Mr Flint previously worked at Meyer Vandenberg Lawyers.
The firm has also hired three new special counsel in Melbourne and Brisbane.
“It’s a privilege to have Con, Darren and Mark as part of the Mills Oakley team, in addition to the new special counsel appointments we have made,” CEO John Nerurker (pictured) said.
Mills Oakley recently opened an office in Perth, hiring 15 lawyers from rival firms in preparation for the launch.
