Ms Gibbs (pictured), who specialises in environmental, water and climate law, has joined HWL Ebsworth’s planning, environment and government team in Melbourne.

Her client base includes listed and private corporations, water corporations, state and federal government departments and other statutory bodies.

“[Ms Gibbs’] significant and varied experience adds to our focus on the energy, resources, agriculture, real estate and telecommunications sectors,” said HWL Ebsworth managing partner Juan Martinez.

Ms Gibbs has experience in carbon capture and storage, emissions trading, green financing, coastal adaptation and professional liability in the context of extreme weather events.

She also worked on the renegotiation of the NBN Co-Telstra agreement for the rollout of the National Broadband Network.

Former Finlaysons senior associate Damien Foulis also recently joined HWL as a partner in their Adelaide office. Former Clayton Utz partner Michael Tuckfield was appointed to HWL’s Melbourne team in July.

Towards the end of last year HWL acquired Cridlands MB and opened offices in Darwin and Alice Springs as part of its expansion into the Northern Territory.
