Previously a special counsel at Gilbert + Tobin, Mr Downie brings 15 years of experience in securitisation and debt capital markets to the Allens banking and finance team.

“Securitisation continues to be a vital funding tool for financial institutions in the Australian market,” Allens head of banking and finance practice Tom Highnam said.

“With securitisation expertise increasingly important for acquisition financing for large-scale transactions, the increased focus on capital relief transactions, and the proposed revision of APS 120 potentially allowing for the introduction of revolving master trusts, the future growth of the securitisation market in Australia looks bright.”

Allens also recently grew its partnership in the banking and finance team, with Jo Folan and Tim Stewart promoted last month.

“These recent appointments are crucial to maintaining our banking and finance practice as the go-to practice for our clients,” Mr Highnam said.
