Allens elects new leader

Top-tier Allens has elected a new chief executive partner, marking the firm's first leadership change in eight years.

Corporate partner Richard Spurio will take on the position from 1 January 2016.

Outgoing chief executive partner Michael Rose has held the role since 2007.

Mr Spurio is currently the corporate section practice leader and has been with the firm for more than 20 years.

He has advised of the firm's most high-profile clients, including ANZ Bank, Aviva, Bendigo and Adelaide Bank, Country Road, Goldman Sachs, Grocon, Rio Tinto and Shell.

Chairman of the board Ian Wallace praised Mr Spurio for his leadership attributes.

“The role of the chief executive partner is to ensure we understand our clients’ businesses and work with them to deliver commercial results,” Mr Wallace said. “Richard will bring to the role strong leadership experience and deep market knowledge.”

Mr Wallace also thanked Mr Rose for his “outstanding contributions" to the firm.
