Mr Prentice joins K&L Gates from Holding Redlich, with experience advising public and private sector clients in relation to infrastructure, ports, airports, aviation and defence.

"Queensland's economic activity is very encouraging, having just recorded its highest rate of growth since the December quarter of 2011,” said K&L Gates managing partner Nick Nichola.

He said it is important that the firm grows with the economy, and the addition of Mr Prentice was part of that strategy.

Holding Redlich gained former Herbert Smith Freehills partner Bill Glover in March, but lost partner Stephen Pyman along with nine lawyers in January.

K&L Gates lost its head of IP, Jane Owen, to Bird & Bird in March, and M&A partner John Mann in May.
