Ms Kench (pictured), who has been in the role since May 2013, was reappointed on Tuesday.

"I am looking forward to the next chapter of the firm’s growth story,” said Ms Kench.

KWM chairman, Australia, Stephen Minns said the decision to have Ms Kench continue in the role reflects the widespread support she has in the partnership.

“The firm is in a very strong position despite challenging market conditions, and with Sue’s clear vision for growth and innovation, I fully expect KWM to continue to thrive,” he said.

Ms Kench joined Mallesons Stephen Jaques in 1993 and was appointed partner in 1996. She has held a number of leadership positions including being a member of the board and managing partner for the firm’s real estate, construction and infrastructure group.
