Dr Tsacalos (pictured) is currently a partner at Norton Rose Fulbright but is making the jump to Clayton Utz’ Sydney office in the new year.

He has experience in advising government departments and agencies at federal and state level, as well as advising ministers and senior public servants in the areas of dispute resolution and litigation, and administrative law.

He also acts for a range of private sector clients within his areas of expertise.

His areas of specialisation include contractual disputes, tort claims, judicial review, merits review, regulatory enforcement, public law, government information law and privacy, tendering issues and insurance law.

Dr Tsacalos has managed complex and often sensitive disputes for government and has also conducted investigations and reviews for government departments and agencies, according to a release from Clayton Utz.

In addition, he has experience and expertise in relation to inquiries and royal commissions.

Over the past 12 months, he has represented significant parties in the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse, the Royal Commission into Trade Union Governance and Corruption, and the Special Commission of Inquiry into Greyhound Racing in NSW.

Clayton Utz's public sector national practice group head, Jamie Doran, said, “Our government clients will benefit from his broad range of experience and unique understanding of the State and Federal government environments.”

Clayton Utz has also announced the appointment of Christine Bartlett as an external director from 2016.
