Mr Welling joins boutique law firm Kelly Hazell Quill (KHQ) to lead its litigation and dispute resolution team. He specialises in complex commercial litigation and has particular experience in contractual disputes, actions in tort, equity, injunctive relief and regulatory proceedings.

Mr Welling has acted in proceedings brought by the ACCC, ASIC and Australian Customs and Border Protection Service. He has represented a range of clients including property developers, international manufacturers, financial services providers and high-net-worth individuals.

The former Clayton Utz senior associate said of the move: "I am very excited to have joined KHQ Lawyers. I am looking forward to building on the firm’s exiting litigation capability, by providing clients with strategic advice before a matter turns litigious and commercial and cost effective representation if proceedings are initiated."

In February last year KHQ founding partners Michael Hazell and Justin Quill left the firm to join rival Melbourne firm M+K Lawyers.

At the same time that the two founding partners made their exit, KHQ announced the addition of Julie Armstrong who moved from law firm Rockwell Oliver.
