Slater and Gordon’s national medical law practice group leader has been poached by a rival national firm.
Bill Madden has taken on a new position as special counsel with Carroll & O’Dea Lawyers, effective immediately. He will work across practice areas in firm’s Sydney and Melbourne offices.
Mr Madden joins the firm from Slater & Gordon, where he served as national practice group leader for medical law. He is also an adjunct professor at the Queensland University of Technology, an adjunct fellow at Western Sydney University and a senior fellow at the University of Melbourne.
Carroll & O’Dea managing partner Howard Harrison said the addition of Mr Madden to the firm reflected an ongoing commitment to provide clients with the highest level of expertise.
“Bill has practised law for more than 30 years and has specialised for the last two decades in medical negligence, recognised amongst his peers as one of the top litigators in this area.
“This invaluable experience will benefit clients enormously, not only in personal injury but across all our practice areas,” Mr Harrison said.
He added that the skills and expertise Mr Madden brings to Carroll & O’Dea will benefit complex medical negligence matters in particular.
“Amidst the increasingly fast pace of change in the legal sector, the one thing that cannot be replaced by disruptive technology is the in-person client experience. That is built upon the skill and expertise needed to address the complex issues that clients face, particularly in medical negligence,” Mr Harrison said.
