Julie George (pictured) has joined the Cook Legal team in Queensland. An accredited family dispute resolution specialist, Ms George has experience undertaking family law mediation and domestic violence responses. She has previously worked with government services and in private practice.

The new addition to Cook Legal takes the firm’s legal team from three to four practitioners.

Ms George previously worked as a dispute resolution practitioner with both Interrelate and Arrow Dispute Resolution. Prior to becoming a lawyer, she worked as a registered nurse. She went on to become a nursing consultant, managing medical research into treatments for liver disease. From 2005 to 2007, Ms George was the manager of clinical research at the Gallipoli Medical Research Foundation.

According to a statement provided by Cook Legal, the firm’s new lawyer has “a particular interest in working towards negotiated or mediated outcomes for clients”. Given Ms George’s mediation background, Cook Legal said that avoiding the cost and delay associated with litigation is a priority.
