CARTER NEWELL has welcomed the appointment of two new associates and three solicitors to the firm.

Jacques Nel has been appointed to the role of associate in the construction and engineering team. He brings over five years’ experience in back-end dispute and resolution, having previously worked as a lawyer in Sydney and a partner in a firm in South Africa.

Also appointed to associate is Sharon OToole, who joins the corporate and commercial team. O’Toole has worked in both private practice and in-house roles in the energy and resource sectors on Aboriginal cultural heritage, native title, and contract and commercial matters.

Rising to the position of solicitor at Carter Newell are Peter Dovolil, Leah Mangano and Andrew Persijn.

Dovolil has been posted to the workplace relations team, after gaining experience in Sydney and overseas. He has particular experience in handling claims following workplace injuries for various corporate clients, along with insurance litigation.

Mangano has joined the corporate and commercial division from Townsville and has experience in commercial law, property law and commercial litigation. And in the specialised lines insurance team, Persijn will use experience gained in a Brisbane-based firm over the past three years.
